SHS Arts Compete at the Harper Art Show

From November 6th- December 1st, the Harper Area Art show is displaying works of local art students. Works by students 13 local high schools are displayed as part of the show.

Because school was allowed to submit 30 pieces to the art exhibition, 30 SHS students are  participating in this year’s competition.

“Viewing the show is a fantastic way to feel inspired by artwork,” Ms. Govic, an art teacher at Schaumburg high school stated.

Every school will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner, along with honorable mentions in each category. The categories include 3D, 2D, and 4D (which includes video and time arts). Thirteen judges from Harpers faculty will judge the individual exhibits and select their favorite artworks. In addition, the Harper College art department will also critique the artworks and choose their own winners with first place winning a scholarship for a class at Harper.  

We would like to congratulate the students of Schaumburg High School who have participated in this year’s Harper Art show. 

  • 2D: 1st-Anna Scheele, 2nd- Molly Greenwald, 3rd- Elizabeth Pacione, Honorable Mentions- Mella Mazcikis, Ibraheem Kahill, Wiktoria Wiacek, Nathan France
  • 3D: 1st- Annelise Lubash, 2nd- Elena Clark-Mooney, 3rd- Natalie Gallup, Honorable Mentions- Rebecca Peters and Sushant Bagri
  • 4D: 1st- Shreya Banerjee, 2nd-Tristian Vela, 3rd- Jordan Deltchev

The awards ceremony will occur Wednesday, November 30th, 7-9 PM at buildings A and C. To finish off the show, one piece will be chosen for the Best in Show Award, which will win a scholarship for a class at Harper. 

We would like to invite you to see the works of our SHS students as well as the rest of the pieces from all other schools in the area as Harper celebrates the 39th year of the show.
