Last Wednesday, Educators Rising members assisted with Hope Space by helping organize and prepare the room, contributing to a welcoming and supportive environment for students. Through this service effort, members demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact within the school community.
Hope Space is a safe environment where people can relax, reflect, and share their feelings. It was created to help individuals cope with stress, challenges, and difficult emotions in a healthy way. By providing comfort and encouragement, Hope Space promotes emotional well-being and a sense of connection.
In addition to service projects, Educators Rising recently attended the annual Future Educators Conference at Northern Illinois University. At the conference, students explored current issues in education, learned about opportunities in the teaching profession, and connected with others who share an interest in shaping the future of learning.
The breakout workshops focused on topics like classroom management, special education, and creative teaching strategies, while also hearing from experienced educators during keynote sessions. The conference provided an opportunity to explore college education programs and connect with current teachers.
This spring, Educators Rising is partnering with the Culinary Arts Club to support St. Baldrick’s, a foundation dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. The clubs will host a Krispy Kreme fundraiser on February 20th, inviting students and staff to contribute to an important cause while enjoying a sweet treat.
Looking ahead, Educators Rising is also preparing a special initiative to celebrate the educators at Schaumburg High School during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. The group hopes to recognize the dedication and hard work of teachers who inspire students every day.
Through service, collaboration, and leadership, Educators Rising continues to strengthen the school community and encourage students to explore the impact and importance of education. The next meeting will be in room 9 at 7:00 A.M. on February 18th.
“I love being part of this club because of the positive impact it has on future educators. One of my favorite parts of the NIU conference was a workshop on how teachers influence students through both learning and teaching. It helped me realize that educators don’t just teach content—they shape students through education,” said Savannah Nargie, a junior.
“Being part of the Educator’s Rising club has helped me learn the importance of helping others and being involved in my school community through activities like sorting food and updating school billboards. One of my favorite memories was our September field trip where we explored different classes connected to our interests. My favorite class was learning sign language at Northwestern College because it showed me new ways to communicate and connect with others,” added Ericka Serio.
