The annual school dance show will return on Friday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, bringing together student performers for an evening celebrating movement, creativity, and self-expression.
Now in its fourth year, the event continues to grow as more students become involved both onstage and behind the scenes.
Performers are selected based on student interest, which allows a wide variety of dancers to participate each year. The show has also welcomed collaborations with school groups, including the SASA club, whose performances over the past two years have become audience favorites.
One of the highlights of the production is the diversity of dance styles presented. Students are encouraged to showcase any form of dance that they are passionate about. Previous performances have featured ballet, bachata, hip hop, lyrical, and cultural dances, reflecting the wide range of artistic expression within the student body. Organizers hope to expand that variety even further this year.
While some elements of this year’s show remain a surprise, audiences can look forward to new performers taking the stage. Highlights include a performance by the Saxonettes, as well as several first-time dancers.
Preparation for the show begins weeks in advance, with dancers rehearsing throughout March and April to refine choreography and performance quality. During the final week, routines are combined with lighting, costumes, and technical elements to enhance the visual experience. The student tech crew plays an essential role in preparing the auditorium and ensuring the production runs smoothly.
“My favorite part about practice is seeing all my friends and spending time together. The most challenging part is when some people can’t attend due to other activities,” said Riya Parikh, a senior.
“My favorite memories from preparing for the show are all the practices where we get to spend time together and bond with different groups of people which really starts to feel like a big community. Once we finally get the hang of dance and start memorizing it, it makes me even more motivated to keep improving and learn more. Seeing everyone’s energy and how much effort people put in during rehearsals makes the whole experience really fun and rewarding,” said Shreya Domathoti, a senior.
Organizers hope attendees leave with a deeper appreciation for their peers’ talents and the individuality expressed through dance. By encouraging audiences to cheer and support performers, the show aims to create an uplifting environment that celebrates confidence, creativity, and community.
